Dr. Rachel Alex boasts an illustrious 25-year career as an esteemed educator, leaving an indelible mark on the Texas educational landscape. Commencing her journey in 1999 as a middle school math teacher in Dayton ISD, she later continued her dedication to shaping young minds in Liberty ISD. Her exceptional teaching prowess garnered recognition when she was honored as the Region 4 Teacher of the Year in 2004.
Transitioning to a counseling role in Dayton ISD, Dr. Alex continued to ascend the educational leadership ladder, undertaking pivotal roles such as testing coordinator, data specialist, and curriculum coordinator. In 2009, she embarked on a transformative leadership chapter in Sheldon ISD, where she served as a math and science instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and turnaround principal, showcasing her versatility and impact across diverse roles.
Joining Region 4 in 2017 as the Senior Education Specialist for Leadership, Dr. Alex played a pivotal role in enhancing leadership capabilities across the region, focusing on improving school performance and student outcomes. She actively contributed to key educational initiatives, serving as an Effective Schools Framework Diagnostic, Texas Instructional Leadership Team Member, Lone Star Governance advocate, and a member of the Texas Turnaround School Team. Her expertise extends to being a Trainer of Trainer for T-TESS, T-PESS, SLO, and Impact Coaching.
In her current capacity as the Executive Director of Leadership Development in Aldine ISD, Dr. Alex orchestrates a robust leadership pipeline, providing executive coaching, supporting performance management, and delivering professional development for district and campus leaders. Holding a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston, Clear Lake, she also imparts her knowledge as an adjunct professor at her alma mater.
